Another Link in...

I made a profile in the Linkedin site and I thought that it was really interesting that someone came up with this conception of using our social networking professionally. There are a few flaws with the system like you cannot ask for an outside source for a reccomendation, but rather they have to be part of the system too.

Another LibraryThing...

I like this site. It is just the type of place I would spend all my time. It has everything a book lover needs from discussion groups to finding types of books based on tags. It allows you to group and edit your searches and modify as you please. All in all I was very impressed with the site. :-)

Another Delicious...

This to me seems a lot like the Google Reader or the RSS feeds. It's putting all of your favorite things in one place, and getting an email or updates about them; however it is more for fluff pieces than news like Digg. Librarians can use then to share their ideas and potentially new programs for their libraries.

Another Tag...

Tagging is a useful tool if you are not sure what you are looking for because you can type in a word and a database will come up with related items. I think it is very useful if you are intereest in something, and want some suggestions. It is in use in our library and it comes up with the most relevant searches. I think that the patrons greatly appreciate it and I know it has been useful to me.

Another IM...

I started IMing when I was about 12 or 13 to keep up with my friends from Connecticut. It was useful back then when cell phones were not as abundantly used, but I like cell phones better now because you can continue conversations from whenever and you are not glued to one place because you have to be connected to the internet and a computer. I cannot remember the last time I used an IM...

Another Picture Share...

The Alexandrian Library is an interesting sort of collection. Do the patrons sign a wavier to use the photos when they sign up for library cards or at each event do they sign a wavier? I like the set up of the Marathon County Public Library better than the Alexandrian's set up. I found the Lunar and Planetary Instuite boring and not useful. It did not draw you in.

Another Digg...

This site is similar to Twitter, but it seems to be more focused on news. I think that it has a little more value than Twitter; however I am still not a fan of the concept of constantly updating something. It leads to a life attached to technology and your cell phones which I think is problematic in the sense that it isolates you from people. The concept is good, but if I want to know something I can look it up, or if its important or an emergency a text will be sent to my phone or I will get a call.

Another Twitter...

Honestly I am not a fan of Twitter. I do not think that you need to get updates every five minutes from people whether family or friends. It is creating a fake bond i think that no one benefits from. And most the time I don't care what the celebrities are doing and I think that it is piontless and a waste of time. They blame the paparrazi for interfering in their private lives, but then put it out there for the whole world to see? That's hypocritical. Anyway I did the Twitter... So we'll see where to go from here.

Another RSS Feed...

The RSS feed is not something new to me. I set up my first one when I was fifteen. I have been following the Yankees, Rascal Flatts, and the New York Times daily news stories. I think that its important to keep up to date with current events happening in the United States and around the world.

Another Subscription...

I have just successfully completed the subscription thing #2. It will be nice to keep up with all my favorite shows and music and teams in one place instead of having to visit different sites. I think what I like most about it is it gives you a little blurb that you can click on if you like to otherwise just ignore it.
